One fourth of colorectal cancer patients having curative surgery will relapse of which the majority will die. Lymph node (LN) metastasis is the single most important prognostic factor and a key factor when deciding on postoperative treatment. Presently, LN metastases are identified by histopathological examination, a subjective method analyzing only a small LN volume and giving no information on tumor aggressiveness.

Protein extracts of produce complex band patterns in gel electrophoresis and IgE-immunostaining.

Our aim was to map the immunodominant regions of shrimp tropomyosin by both IgE-binding and IgE-receptor crosslinking studies.
Methods: Five overlapping fragments covering Pandalus borealis tropomyosin were cloned, expressed in Escherichia coli and characterized by circular dichroism spectroscopy, native PAGE and bis(sulfosuccinimidyl) suberate-crosslinking.
Background: Shellfish allergy is one of the major causes of life-threatening allergic reactions to food. The shrimp species Pandalus borealis is the commercially most important coldwater shrimp species, and its protein extract is commonly used in shrimp allergy diagnostics. However, the DNA sequence of its major allergen, tropomyosin, designated Pan b 1, was not previously described.

Background: Lupine is used increasingly in food products. The development of lupine allergy in peanut-allergic patients is believed to occur as a result of cross-reactivity between lupine and peanut proteins.
Objective: To investigate the degree of immunoglobulin (Ig) E cross-reactivity between allergens in lupine and peanut.
