Hibernating mammals such as the thirteen-lined ground squirrel () experience significant reductions in oxidative metabolism and body temperature when entering a state known as torpor. Animals entering or exiting torpor do not experience permanent loss of brain function or other injuries, and the processes that enable such neuroprotection are not well understood. To gain insight into changes in protein function that occur in the dramatically different physiological states of hibernation, we performed quantitative phosphoproteomics experiments on thirteen-lined ground squirrels that are summer-active, winter-torpid, and spring-active.

This paper investigates heritage climatology through global analysis of damage functions for collections, aiming to learn about the reliability of these functions and the field itself. It addresses the growing interest in geospatial analysis of climate hazards for cultural heritage, proposing parameters that refine climate-related deterioration processes. Using global daily climate data from 1991 to 2020, the study assesses damage functions reliant on temperature and relative humidity inputs, including damage functions for paper and metals, alongside indices for humidity fluctuations and mould growth.

Pacific understandings of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) encompass beliefs and practices reflective of Pacific values systems. These are integral to cultural understandings of safety, relationships, and intimacy. Research processes and practices that appropriately address these values and sensitives are scarcely available in the literature, leading to limited use and understanding of culturally appropriate methods and procedures.
