A versatile, efficient, clean, and facile method was used for the synthesis of pyrano[2,3-d]pyrimidine derivatives by the one-pot three-component condensation reaction of thiobarbituric acid and malononitrile with p-chlorobenzaldehyde, using Fe O or ZnO or Mn O as nanostructure catalysts. The catalyst could be easily recovered using an external magnet and reused for six cycles with almost a consistent activity. A series of polyheterocyclic compounds containing five and/or six rings fused with each other was designed.

The effects of body size, age, feeding and mating status, conspecific volatiles from live adults, synthetic aggregation pheromone, and a pheromone synergist, ethyl acetate, on the mating behavior of red palm weevil, Rhynchophorus ferrugineus Olivier, were investigated. To evaluate these factors, variables such as mating latency, frequency and duration, and refractory period were assessed. While both, body size and age, influenced the mating behavior, the latter showed a stronger effect.

Objective: There has been no uniformity of opinion concerning the structures supporting the female urethra. Therefore, the aims of this prospective study were to define precisely the female urethral support structures at cadaveric anatomic dissection and histologic examination and to determine which of these structures can be detected on MRI of cadaveric specimens and of healthy volunteers.

Subjects And Methods: Dissection of seven formalin-preserved cadavers (age at death, 25-50 years; no parity history available) was performed by a professor of anatomy to explore the anatomy of the urethral supporting ligaments and was followed by MRI of the cadaveric specimens with ligamentous markers in place and then by histologic analysis of the dissected ligaments.
