Geochemical insights into plant uptake of Technology-critical elements: A case study on lettuce from European soils.

While vegetable uptake of traditional metal contaminants is a well-studied pathway to human exposure and risk, a paucity of information exists on the uptake of emerging metal contaminants. This study evaluated the uptake of the Technology-critical elements (TCEs) gallium (Ga), germanium (Ge), niobium (Nb), tantalum (Ta), thallium (Tl), and rare earth elements (REEs) into lettuce cultivated in 21 European urban soils. For comparison, the uptake of cadmium (Cd) was also analysed.

Inter-laboratory variation for urine albumin among laboratories in a Swedish external quality assessment scheme 2005-2023.

Introduction: Increased albuminuria is associated with elevated mortality. Urine albumin (U-ALB) above 20 mg/L or albumin-to-creatinine ratio (U-ACR) of 3 g/mol are indicative of moderately increased albuminuria. Due to limited standardization among U-ALB methods, diagnosis of increased albuminuria might prove difficult.

Pregnancy complications and long-term risk of cardiovascular events in women with structural heart disease.

Background: To determine the frequency of pregnancy complications and their association with the risk of cardiovascular outcomes in women with structural heart disease (SHD).

Methods: This nationwide registry-based cohort study included women in Sweden with SHD (pulmonary arterial hypertension, congenital heart disease or acquired valvular heart disease) with singleton births registered in the national Medical Birth Register (MBR) between 1973 and 2014. Exposures were pregnancy complications; pre-eclampsia/gestational hypertension (PE/gHT), preterm birth and small for gestational age (SGA) collected from MBR.

Development of a three-dimensional scoring model for the assessment of continuous glucose monitoring data in type 1 diabetes.

Introduction: Despite the improvements in diabetes management by continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) it is difficult to capture the complexity of CGM data in one metric. We aimed to develop a clinically relevant multidimensional scoring model with the capacity to identify the most alarming CGM episodes and/or patients from a large cohort.

Research Design And Methods: Retrospective CGM data from 2017 to 2020 available in electronic medical records were collected from n=613 individuals with type 1 diabetes (total 82 114 days).
