Anesthetic Management for Pediatric Lung Resection: A Single-Center Retrospective Analysis.

Background Lung resection is a complex surgical procedure performed in children to address various pulmonary conditions. The success of this surgical intervention in these patients lies in a multidisciplinary approach, with anesthetic management playing a critical role in ensuring the safety and efficacy of the procedure. Methods After approval by the local ethics committee, clinical data of 17 pediatric patients who underwent lung resection in our hospital from January 2012 to December 2022 were retrospectively analyzed.

Ethics and trustworthiness of artificial intelligence in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary surgery: a snapshot of insights from the European-African Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (E-AHPBA) survey.

Background: Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) surgery is a complex specialty and Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications have the potential to improve pre- intra- and postoperative outcomes of HPB surgery. While ethics guidelines have been developed for the use of AI in clinical surgery, the ethical implications and reliability of AI in HPB surgery remain specifically unexplored.

Methods: An online survey was developed by the Innovation Committee of the E-AHPBA to investigate the current perspectives on the ethical principles and trustworthiness of AI in HPB Surgery among E-AHPBA membership.

Peripheral Axonal Neuropathy in Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis Secondary to Rickettsia conorii Infection.

Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is a rare and potentially fatal hyperinflammatory syndrome characterized by dysregulated immune activation and systemic inflammation. Secondary HLH is often triggered by infections, with being an infrequently reported cause. Peripheral axonal neuropathy is a rare and poorly understood complication of HLH.

Influence of Smoking and Paprika Spice on the Content of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the Traditional Spanish Smoked Sausage 'Botillo del Bierzo'.

The content of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in a traditional Spanish smoked sausage known as 'Botillo del Bierzo' was analysed. The determination and quantification of PAH4 (the sum of benzo[a]pyrene, benz[a]anthracene, benzo[b]-fluoranthene and chrysene) in the smoked sausage were performed using GC-MS. The results showed that smoking 'Botillo del Bierzo' for 24 h contributes very little to the increase in PAH levels in the product, with no significant differences ( < 0.
