The objective was to evaluate outcomes in a heroin-dependent population 35 years after first enrolment in methadone maintenance treatment (MMT).  An ad hoc protocol was used to assess drug misuse, treatment, and drug-related morbidity in the survivor sample. The standardized mortality ratio (SMR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) were calculated.

The photodegradation of avobenzone (AV), the only ultraviolet filter molecule approved by the Food and Drug Administration to absorb UVA radiation, is an important problem in sunscreen formulations. In this paper, the photophysics and photostability of AV in various solvent systems and in aqueous micelles are studied. AV in its keto-enol tautomer functions as an effective UVA protection agent.

Clinical Case: Female in her eighties is admitted suffering from unilateral ocular pain. On examination we observed, as well as corneal abrasion, a bilateral iridoschisis with a frayed iris, unfolded between its stromal layers.

Discussion: This rare case is related either to senile degenerative change or to angle-closure glaucoma.

Introduction: The long-term results of the Spanish Study Protocol SEOP-SO-95 for treatment of localised osteosarcoma of the extremities in children were evaluated.

Patients And Methods: One hundred consecutive patients under 18 years of age from 22 institutions were enrolled from January 1995 to December 2000. Immunohistochemical expression of p53, HER/erbB-2 and P-glycoprotein were retrospectively studied in 27 patients.

Introduction: Effectiveness and tolerability of topiramate at 3 and 6 months was assessed in patients requesting dehabituation programs.

Methods: Observational, prospective, national and multicenter study of 6 months, in patients on treatment with topiramate, who fulfilled criteria for dependence of opiates according to ICD-10 participating in therapeutic programs of dehabituation, without concomitant psychiatric illnesses and any responsible relative. Main measures of effectiveness were retention rates, alcohol consumption and other illicit drugs by urine tests (opiates, cannabis, cocaine) and treatment needs by EuropASI scale.
