The distinction of lipid isomers is gaining more attention in lipidomics due to their different biochemical properties in the organism. Herein, we aimed to develop a method for the analysis of monoacylglycerol (MG) and diacylglycerol (DG) enantiomers in biological samples using chiral supercritical fluid chromatography and mass spectrometry (SFC-MS). Amylose-based chiral columns showed a certain degree of separation of MG and DG isomers, but low selectivity for the acylglycerol classes in total lipid extracts, which could not be improved by modifier composition or other chromatographic conditions.

6-Nitrobenzo[]thiophene 1,1-dioxide (Stattic) is a potent signal transducer and activator of the transcription 3 (STAT3) inhibitor developed originally for anticancer therapy. However, Stattic harbors several STAT3 inhibition-independent biological effects. To improve the properties of Stattic, we prepared a series of analogues derived from 6-aminobenzo[]thiophene 1,1-dioxide, a compound directly obtained from the reduction of Stattic, that includes a methoxybenzylamino derivative (K2071) with optimized physicochemical characteristics, including the ability to cross the blood-brain barrier.

We report a measurement of exclusive J/ψ and ψ(2s) photoproduction in Au+Au ultraperipheral collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200  GeV using the STAR detector. For the first time, (i) the ψ(2s) photoproduction in midrapidity at the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider has been experimentally measured; (ii) nuclear suppression factors are measured for both the coherent and incoherent J/ψ production. Binge alcohol consumption during adolescence produces lasting deficits in learning and memory, while also increasing the susceptibility to substance use disorders. The adolescent intermittent ethanol (AIE) rodent model mimics human adolescent binge drinking and has identified the Nucleus Basalis Magnocellularis (NbM) as a key site of pathology.
