Article Synopsis
  • Lymphocystis viral disease (LVD) is a contagious fish disease impacting various species globally, leading to potential severe infections, especially with simultaneous bacterial or parasitic infections.
  • A study on gilthead seabream revealed that LVD causes noticeable changes in the fish's skin microbiome, increasing the presence of harmful pathogens and reducing protective microbial activities.
  • Following treatment and recovery, a decrease in harmful bacteria was observed, along with some restoration of microbiome functionality, although the overall community structure remained altered.

Human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) hold promises to model and understand human diseases, including those associated with ageing. Here, we describe ABCRIi001-A, a hiPSC line generated from peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of a 79-year-old female enrolled in a study for development of an ageing score (ALFA Score). PBMCs were reprogrammed using three Sendai virus-based reprogramming vectors (hKOS, hc-Myc, and hKlf4).

Background: Non-operative management for pediatric blunt splenic injury is well established in high-income countries, leading to a low splenectomy rate in hemodynamically stable children. Splenectomy rate became a quality indicator for Trauma Center verification utilized by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma. However, data on splenectomy rate in children from countries with different income levels, such as Brazil, remain limited.

Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) is a neoplasm type often diagnosed in dogs. However, studies focused on further investigating its molecular biology, mainly biomarkers to help implementing new therapies, remain scare in the literature. Thus, immunostaining and the gene expression of epidermal growth factor receptors (HER1 and HER2) in canine cSCC presenting different cell differentiation degrees were herein assessed.
