[Adapting technical care to EBH patients].

The skin of patients with hereditary epidermolysis bullosa (HEB) is extremely fragile. When providing care, nurses must be extremely vigilant to avoid inducing lesions. Whether inserting a peripheral venous line, taking blood pressure or monitoring the patient, nurses are likely to injure the patient's skin by compressing it, rubbing it, applying dressings and so on.

[Care of newborns and infants with epidermolysis bullosa].

When a baby is born, the first bonds of attachment are slowly formed. Primary care, such as feeding, changing, carrying, rocking or putting the child to sleep, is very important for the development of these bonds. In the event of early hospitalization, and especially in the case of a newborn with fragile skin, parents are deprived of this first care, which is a key moment they looked forward to during pregnancy.

Insulin therapy and blood glucose management in critically ill patients: a 1-day cross-sectional observational study in 69 French intensive care units.

Background: Hyperglycaemia is common in critically ill patients, but blood glucose and insulin management may differ widely among intensive care units (ICUs). We aimed to describe insulin use practices and the resulting glycaemic control in French ICUs. We conducted a multicentre 1-day observational study on November 23, 2021, in 69 French ICUs.

Preservation of exopolymeric substances in estuarine sediments.

The surface of intertidal estuarine sediments is covered with diatom biofilms excreting exopolymeric substances (EPSs) through photosynthesis. These EPSs are highly reactive and increase sediment cohesiveness notably through organo-mineral interactions. In most sedimentary environments, EPSs are partly to fully degraded by heterotrophic bacteria in the uppermost millimeters of the sediment and so they are thought to be virtually absent deeper in the sedimentary column.

Unexpected cardiac arrests occurring inside the ICU: outcomes of a French prospective multicenter study.

Purpose: Cardiac arrest may occur unexpectedly in intensive care units (ICU). We hypothesize that certain patient characteristics and treatments are associated with survival and long-term functional outcome following in-ICU cardiac arrest.

Methods: Over a 12-month period, cardiac arrests with resuscitation attempts were prospectively investigated in 45 French ICUs.
