Strategies To Diminish the Emissions of Particles and Secondary Aerosol Formation from Diesel Engines.

Particle emissions and secondary aerosol formation from internal combustion engines deteriorate air quality and significantly affect human wellbeing and health. Both the direct particle emissions and the emissions of compounds contributing to secondary aerosol formation depend on choices made in selecting fuels, engine technologies, and exhaust aftertreatment (EAT). Here we study how catalytic EATs, particle filtration, and fuel choices affect these emissions concerning heavy-duty diesel engine.

International management platform for children's interstitial lung disease (chILD-EU).

Background: Children's interstitial lung diseases (chILD) cover many rare entities, frequently not diagnosed or studied in detail. There is a great need for specialised advice and for internationally agreed subclassification of entities collected in a register.Our objective was to implement an international management platform with independent multidisciplinary review of cases at presentation for long-term follow-up and to test if this would allow for more accurate diagnosis.

A new 4-dimensional imaging system for jaw tracking.

A non-invasive 4D imaging system that produces high resolution time-based 3D surface data has been developed to capture jaw motion. Fluorescent microspheres are brushed onto both tooth and soft-tissue areas of the upper and lower arches to be imaged. An extraoral hand-held imaging device, operated about 12 cm from the mouth, captures a time-based set of perspective image triplets of the patch areas.

4D Clinical Imaging for Dynamic CAD.

A basic 4D imaging system to capture the jaw motion has been developed that produces high resolution 3D surface data. Fluorescent microspheres are brushed onto the areas of the upper and the lower arches to be imaged, producing a high-contrast random optical pattern. A hand-held imaging device operated at about 10 cm from the mouth captures time-based perspective images of the fluorescent areas.

Maternal complications of preeclampsia.

Background: Preeclampsia is classified as mild and severe. It is mild in 75% of cases and 25% presented as severe. In extreme cases the disease can lead to kidney and liver failure, DIC and central nervous system disorders.
