[Assessment of pertinence and cost of preoperative examinations prescriptions by surgeons for programmed surgery].

Objective: To assess the pertinence and the cost of preoperative examinations prescriptions by surgeons at CHU-YO for programmed surgery.

Patients And Methods: This was a prospective and observational study of 145 patients received in preanesthetic consultations between February 4 and April 4, 2016 in the department of anesthesiology, intensive care unit and emergency of CHU-YO. It consisted of an evaluation of 1106 preoperative examinations prescribed by the surgeons of this hospital compared to the formalized recommendations of French experts.

Inhospital outcome of elderly patients in an intensive care unit in a Sub-Saharan hospital.

Background: In Burkina Faso, demographics are changing and we are seeing a growing prevalence of older patients in intensive care units. Elderly people have increased health care needs but there is a lack of geriatric specialists. This study aimed to analyze in-hospital outcome of patients aged over 65 years, admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Yalgado Hospital.

Incidence and outcome of severe ante-partum hemorrhage at the Teaching Hospital Yalgado Ouédraogo in Burkina Faso.

Background: Hemorrhage is the main cause of maternal death during pregnancy. This study aims to evaluate incidence and outcomes of Severe Ante Partum Hemorrhage (SAPH) during the third trimester of pregnancy prior to delivery.

Methods: Analytical cross-sectional study with prospective data collection during 12 months in Yalgado Ouedraogo Hospital, Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
