Auxillary aids for pain and anxiety reduction during dental local anesthesia in pediatric patients: a systematic review.

Aims/objectives: This systematic review aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of auxiliary aids-Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), vibrotactile devices, and Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) in reducing pain and anxiety during dental local anesthesia in pediatric patients.

Methods: The review followed PRISMA guidelines, employing a comprehensive search strategy across multiple databases (PubMed, Cochrane, EBSCO, LILACS, Google Scholar, and Embase) from 2014 to July 2024. Eligibility criteria were based on the PICOS framework, focusing on randomized clinical trials and clinical studies involving pediatric patients undergoing dental procedures with local anesthesia.

Management of Laryngoscope-Induced Iatrogenic Dental Injury: A Case Series.

Dental injury is a common anesthesia-related adverse event, with a high incidence of damage to teeth and surrounding tissues during oro-endotracheal intubation. Poor oral hygiene, compromised periodontium, faulty or loose prosthesis, proclined maxillary incisors along with increased difficulty level of airway management, improper use of laryngoscope, and use of maxillary anterior teeth as a fulcrum for achieving accessibility to the airway are all risk factors for iatrogenic dental injury. This type of injury provides additional physical and psychological trauma to patients who have already undergone medical surgical procedures.

Polygenic Score for Clinicopathologic Features and Survival Outcomes in Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma.

Importance: Genome-wide association studies have identified germline variants associated with the development of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) that can be used to construct a polygenic score (PGS). It is important to determine whether patients with higher germline genetic risk, as summarized using PGS, present with more aggressive disease and/or develop worse clinical outcomes.

Objective: To assess whether germline risk defined by PGS is associated with clinicopathologic features and survival outcomes for patients with PTC.

Intraflagellar transport 25 (IFT25) is a component of the IFT-B complex. In mice, even though this IFT component is not required for cilia formation in somatic cells, it is essential for sperm formation. However, the intracellular localization of this protein in male germ cells is not known given no reliable antibodies are available for histologic studies, and the dynamic trafficking in the developing sperm flagella is not clear.

Comparative evaluation of healing using Er, Cr: YSGG laser treatment with conventional method after extraction of permanent teeth: an in-vivo study.

After dental extractions, patients may experience post-operative pain, with varying degree of severity among patients. The use of Er, Cr: YSGG laser in oral wound healing has garnered considerable interest and attention in recent years. The present study aims to evaluate and assess the wound healing and post operative pain after extraction of teeth in pediatric patients with application of Er, Cr: YSGG laser.
