During the initial phases of the COVID-19 pandemic, accurate tracking has proven unfeasible. Initial estimation methods pointed toward case numbers that were much higher than officially reported. In the CoronaSurveys project, we have been addressing this issue using open online surveys with indirect reporting.

Introduction: Osteosynthesis of pertrochanteric fractures is one of the most frequently performed procedures in orthopaedic trauma care. Emphysematous gastritis is a rare variant of phlegmonous gastritis due to invasion of the stomach wall by gas-forming bacteria. We present a case of emphysematous gastritis in a 66-year-old woman admitted with septicaemia, and a review of gas in the wall of the stomach is given with focus on emphysematous gastritis.

Background: This study was carried out to evaluate the first clinical experiences with the telescopic locking nail (TLN). The TLN is a newly developed universal locking nail system for both femur and tibia that permits cyclic dynamic loading at the fracture site while weightbearing. The nail can also be used for static interlocking or for compression of the fracture elements.
