Article Synopsis
  • The complete chloroplast genome of a plant species (L.) DC. 1828 has been sequenced for the first time, with a length of 159,445 base pairs.
  • The genome includes 85 protein-coding genes, 37 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes, organized into different regions.
  • Phylogenetic analysis shows that this plant is closely related to another species, providing important data for future studies in genomics, phylogenetics, and conservation biology.

Article Synopsis
  • Cranial dural arteriovenous fistulas (DAVFs) are associated with a higher risk of hemorrhage compared to spinal DAVFs, potentially due to the structural differences in veins.
  • The study examined 24 cerebral and 13 spinal veins from cadavers, finding that cerebral veins are larger in diameter but similar in wall thickness compared to spinal veins, leading to a greater diameter-to-thickness ratio.
  • This structural difference in veins may affect their pressure resistance, along with variations in pressure gradients and blood flow dynamics contributing to the differing clinical outcomes between cranial and spinal DAVFs.

Walking patterns are modified during load carriage, resulting in an increased activation of lower limb muscles and energy expenditure. Negative effects of load carriage could be minimized by wearing an exoskeleton, but evidence on the effects are conflicting. The objectives of this study were to describe the influence of an adjustable, passive load-bearing exoskeleton on the metabolic cost of walking (MCW) and associated muscle activations, and to explore changes in MCW after a familiarization process.
