[Functional state of the gastrin-producing cells in duodenal ulcer patients].

Electron microscopic and specific immunofluorescent studies revealed enhanced hormonal activity of the antral part of the stomach manifested in hyperplasia of gastrin-producing cells in patients with duodenal ulcer. A relationship between the level of stimulated gastric secretion, number of gastrin-producing cells and their functional activity was established. No correlation was found between the values of acidity and levels of basal and stimulated gastrin or the dependence of the latter parameters on the number and functional activity of gastrin-producing cells.

[Prognosis of the outcome of myocardial infarct by means of the "KORA-3" program].

The authors prognosed the outcome of a macrofocal myocardial infarction by the data obtained during the first 3 days of the patients' stay in the hospital. The prognosing was done by using a specially prepared questionnaire adapted to the "KORA-3" identification programme. From among 35 patients freshly admitted to the hospital favourable outcome was forecast for 30 of them (of these 2 died) and unfavourable for 5 (of these 1 survived).

[Prognostication of the outcome of surgical treatment of hemorrhagic strokes using a computer].

A new mathematical method is suggested for making the prognosis of the results of surgery for haemorrhagic strokes due to essential hypertension and atherosclerosis. Twenty-two signs characterizing the patient's state are fed into the computer trained on the basis of 124 case reports of patients, both surviving and dying after surgery. The computer operating in accordance with the "Kopa-3" programme works out a vital prognosis for both the medicamental and surgical treatment.
