Impact of exposure time on optical-phase measurements in turbulence.

In this paper, we explore the impact of exposure time on optical-phase measurements collected on light that has propagated through atmospheric-optical turbulence. We model the exposure time by phase averaging over a convective distance, and we quantify the associated impact of imposing an exposure time using the piston- and tilt-removed phase variance. We accomplish this analysis through the development of an analytic solution and wave-optics simulations.

Association between job strain and working life expectancy: a longitudinal study of older people in Sweden.

Many European countries have increased retirement ages to address the challenge of population ageing. However, job strain which is the combination of high job demands and low job control may be an obstacle to extending the working lives of older workers. Job strain is associated with poor health and early work exit among older workers, but less is known about whether job strain impacts working life expectancy (WLE)-an increasingly employed summary measure capturing the length of working lives.

Job satisfaction has been found to increase with age. However, we still have a very limited understanding of how job satisfaction changes as people approach retirement. This is important as the years before retirement present specific challenges for older workers.

A rapid review of motives and barriers for living substance of human origin donation and an extended typology.

Our objective is to review motives and barriers for non-reproductive, living substance of human origin (SoHO) donation, and to extend existing typologies beyond blood. The expansion of SoHO collection is currently unmatched by increased living donors. Thus, there is a critical need to understand how to effectively recruit and retain donors to ensure a sustainable supply of SoHO.
