Inclusive basketball training for players with intellectual disability.

Objectives: To evaluate sport-specific basketball skills before and after 8 months of integrated and non-integrated basketball practice of participants with intellectual disability; in relation to the competitive basketball level and the degree of intellectual disability.

Design: Pre-test/training/post-test design.

Methods: Forty-one adult male players with intellectual disability were randomly divided into 21 athletes playing in the Integrated Basketball group together with 10 athletes without intellectual disability, and 20 athletes playing in the Non-integrated Basketball group.

N-Acetyl-leucine in progressive CACNA1A ataxia: A case series.

Background: CACNA1A-related disorders are rare and progressive; to date, there is no approved treatment. Trials with N-acetyl-leucine (NAL) demonstrated efficacy in disorders featuring ataxia, cognitive impairment, and epilepsy. Accordingly, we hypothesized that NAL may be effective in CACNA1A-associated disorders.

Comparative pharmacokinetic evaluation of metronidazole in sheep and goats.

Metronidazole (MTZ) is a 5-nitroimidazole compound recognized for its dual anti-bacterial and anti-protozoal properties. Non-approved in many countries for farm medicine, due to a lack of data in the literature, the study aimed to determine its pharmacokinetics (PK) in sheep and goats following intravenous (IV) and subcutaneous (SC) administrations. Sheep (n = 5) and goats (n = 5) followed identical study protocols, which involved a two-phase, single-dose (2 mg/kg), cross-over study design with a one-week washout period between treatments.

Transamination of Zwitterionic Quinones with Polyamines: The Carbon Bridge Matters.

The one-pot transamination reactions on a zwitterionic benzoquinonemonoimine yield either a quinoxaline derivative or bis-zwitterionic macrocycles, depending on the number of carbon atoms bridging primary polyamines. These latter products, featuring two confined donor cavities, are the result of a [2 + 2] condensation without the need for template effect or high dilution conditions.
