Chronic hyperoxia during early postnatal development depresses breathing when neonatal rats are returned to room air and causes long-lasting attenuation of the hypoxic ventilatory response (HVR). In contrast, little is known about the control of breathing of juvenile or adult mammals after chronic exposure to moderate hyperoxia later in life. Therefore, Sprague-Dawley rats were exposed to 60 % O for 7 days (juveniles) or for 4 and 14 days (adults) and ventilation was measured by whole-body plethysmography immediately after the exposure or following a longer period of recovery in room air.

Cytosol-dwelling bacteria have undergone extensive preclinical and clinical testing, yet the mechanisms of activating innate immunity in tumors are unclear. We report that phylogenetically distinct cytosolic pathogens, including , , and species, elicited anti-tumor responses in poorly immunogenic melanoma and lymphoma in mice.

Monitoring the prevalence of MBDDs among children and factors that may influence health outcomes is important to understanding risk and promoting population health.
Method: We examined trends in parent-reported lifetime MBDDs among children and associated health promotion and risk indicators from 2016 through 2021 by using data from the National Survey of Children's Health.
Background: Postoperative neurocognitive decline is a frequent complication triggered by unclear signalling mechanisms. This observational case-control study investigated the effects of hip or knee replacement surgery on the composition of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs), potential periphery-to-brain messengers, and their association with neurocognitive outcomes.
Methods: We mapped the microRNAome and proteome of plasma-derived EVs from 12 patients (six with good and six with poor neurocognitive outcomes at 3 months after surgery) at preoperative and postoperative timepoints (4, 8, 24, and 48 h).
