Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to investigate lung tissue changes in rats after administering baclofen, focusing on the expression of genes related to apoptosis (Bax and Bcl-2) in different lung cell types.
  • Twenty Wistar rats were divided into four groups, with varying observation times after receiving baclofen, to assess the corresponding histological and gene expression effects.
  • Results showed significant lung damage, including vascular issues and emphysema, peaking at 24 hours, with varying levels of Bax and Bcl-2 expression that indicated a dynamic response to baclofen administration.

We studied the effects of some nitrogen-containing, heterocyclic, and cyclic compounds on the rate of oxidative deamination of polyamines and putrescine in tissues with a high proliferation rate. For this purpose, the specific activities of the main enzymes of polyamine oxidative degradation - spermine oxidase (SMO), polyamine oxidase (PAO), and diamine oxidase (DAO) were determined using a cell-free test system from regenerating rat liver. The compounds methyl 2-(5-formylfuran-2-yl)benzoate and 2,7-bis-[2-(diethylamino)ethoxy]-9H-fluoren-9-one (and in the form of dihydrochloride) showed mainly activating effect on oxidative degradation of putrescine, spermidine, and spermine, which indirectly indicates their antiproliferative effect.

Changes in lighting accompany modern urbanization trends and can lead to various pathologies based on circadian disturbances. In this study, we assessed the changes in the circadian rhythm of core body temperature (Tcore) and locomotor activity of Wistar-Kyoto rats (WKY) and spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) following exposure to different lighting conditions: extended light phase of the day (16 h-8 h, 20 h-4 h, 24 h-0 h), light pollution, monochromatic light, and bright light therapy. The telemetry data was collected after experimental lighting conditions during periods with standard lighting (12 h of light and 12 h of darkness) and was processed using linear and cosinor analysis.

Objective: To reveal pathological lung changes in baclofen poisoning and to assess their dynamics.

Material And Methods: The experiment included 20 mature (at age 20 weeks) male rats of Wistar line weighing 290-350 gr. The animals were divided into 3 study groups (5 rats in each) depending on experiment's duration after 85 mg/kg baclofen administration: 3, 4.

Changes in the activity of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system are responsible for a stable shift in the regulation of the cardiovascular system in essential hypertension (EH). They can be characterized as hemodynamic allostasis. The purpose of our study was to determine the role of hemodynamic parameters in allostatic load in patients with EH without metabolic syndrome.
