Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized- at both early and late stages- by neurovascular impairment. In AD, dysfunctional cerebral microvasculature is accompanied by an inflammatory response, contributing to Aβ and tau accumulation, brain cell stress and death, impaired clearance of metabolic waste, BBB permeability, and ultimately leading to neuronal demise and cognitive impairment. We previously showed that Aβ peptides induce mitochondrial dysregulation and caspase-mediated apoptosis in brain cells, including endothelial, glial, and smooth muscle cells.

Comparative genetic mapping and a consensus interspecific genetic map reveal strong synteny and collinearity within the genus.

Introduction: Useful germplasm for citrus breeding includes all sexually compatible species of the former genera , and , now merged in the single genus. An improved knowledge on the synteny/collinearity between the genome of these different species, and on their recombination landscapes, is essential to optimize interspecific breeding schemes.

Method: We have performed a large comparative genetic mapping study including several main clades of the genus.

Background And Aims: The enteric nervous system (ENS), comprised of neurons and glia, regulates intestinal motility. Hirschsprung disease (HSCR) results from defects in ENS formation, yet while neuronal aspects have been extensively studied, enteric glia remain disregarded. This study aimed to explore enteric glia diversity in health and disease.
