Angiography for acute lower gastrointestinal hemorrhage: efficacy of cut film compared with digital subtraction techniques.

Purpose: To find out if digital subtraction angiography (DSA) has a different diagnostic power than conventional cut-film angiography in investigating acute lower gastrointestinal (GI) hemorrhage.

Materials And Methods: Retrospective analysis of two cohorts of patients investigated by angiography for acute lower GI hemorrhage was performed. One group of patients treated at one center ("hospital H") underwent conventional angiography.

Hepatic bile duct hamartomas (von Meyenburg Complexes): MR and MR cholangiography findings.

Multiple bile duct hamartomas (MBDHs) of the liver, also known as von Meyenburg complexes, are easily confused with diffuse metastatic disease of the liver on US and CT. At present, histologic examination after tissue preevaluation is usually necessary for definite diagnosis. We report four cases in which the MR features, and especially the MR cholangiographic (MRC) findings, were highly suggestive for MBDH.

Detachable balloon embolization of an aneurysmal gastroduodenal arterioportal fistula.

Extrahepatic arteriovenous fistulas involving the gastroduodenal artery and the portal venous system are rare and almost always a late complication of gastric surgery. Secondary portal hypertension and mesenteric ischemia may provoke abdominal pain, upper and lower gastrointestinal hemorrhage, diarrhea, and weight loss. Until recently, surgical excision has been the therapy of choice with excellent results.

Diagnostic imaging and clinical findings in rhombencephalosynapsis: case report and literature review.

Rhombencephalosynapsis is a rare condition in which most cases are found in newborns and infants. Morphological findings are predominantly characterized by fusion of the cerebellar hemispheres and absence of the vermis with often associated supratentorial anomalies. We review the literature with emphasis on diagnostic imaging of this condition and present a case of a 2-year-old girl.
