Heat is associated with increased risk of morbidity and mortality. People who are incarcerated are especially vulnerable to heat exposure due to demographic characteristics and their conditions of confinement. Evaluating heat exposure in prisons, and the characteristics of exposed populations and prisons, can elucidate prison-level risk to heat exposure.

The ID10 beamline of the SESAME (Synchrotron-light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East) synchrotron light source in Jordan was inaugurated in June 2023 and is now open to scientific users. The beamline, which was designed and installed within the European Horizon 2020 project BEAmline for Tomography at SESAME (BEATS), provides full-field X-ray radiography and microtomography imaging with monochromatic or polychromatic X-rays up to photon energies of 100 keV. The photon source generated by a 2.

The phonon dispersion of ice VII and that of its proton-ordered analog ice VIII are investigated through a combination of inelastic x-ray scattering (IXS) measurements and first-principles calculations of the oxygen sublattice dynamic structure factor. Particular attention is devoted to hydrogen-disorder in ice VII, addressed theoretically through a statistical ensemble of fictitious ordered supercell configurations. Similar phonon densities of states are found in both phases but are significantly less structured in the case of ice VII.

Studies indicate that the radiotracer 2-[F]fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose (2-[F]FDG) can be metabolized beyond 2-[F]FDG-6-phosphate (2-[F]FDG-6-P), but its metabolism is incompletely understood. Most importantly, it remains unclear whether downstream metabolism affects tracer accumulation Here we present a fingerprint of 2-[F]FDG radiometabolites over time in cancer cells, corresponding tumor xenografts and murine organs. Strikingly, radiometabolites representing glycogen metabolism or the oxPPP correlated inversely with tracer accumulation across all examined tissues.

Purpose: To examine the clinical characteristics of patients who have experienced blunt ocular injuries from "Orbeez" hydrated gel pellets (Spin Master Corp.), and to describe ocular morbidity, visual acuity (VA), and intraocular pressure (IOP) after Orbeez-related ocular trauma.

Design: Retrospective, institutional, observational case series.
