Examining global biodiversity accounts: Implications of aggregating characterization factors from elementary flows in multi-regional input-output analysis.

Extending multi-regional input-output (MRIO) models with spatially explicit life cycle impact assessment (LCIA) models allows practitioners to quantify biodiversity impacts at every step of global supply chains. Inconsistencies may be introduced, however, when high-resolution characterization factors (CFs) are aggregated so as to match the low spatial granularity of MRIO models. These aggregation errors are greater when CFs are aggregated via proxies, such as ecoregion land shares, instead of based on spatially explicit elementary stressor flows.

Guiding Through Challenging Psychedelic Experiences and "Bad Trips".

Psychedelic substances have gained recognition for their therapeutic potential, but they also present challenges, with individuals occasionally experiencing distressing episodes referred to as challenging experiences or, in the recreational setting, "bad trips". Trial therapists and physicians, but also healthcare professionals in emergency rooms, need a comprehensive strategy to effectively manage these cases. Three case reports are presented to underline the problem and propose strategies for handling these situations.

Dreams are still an enigma of human cognition, studied extensively in psychoanalysis and neuroscience. According to the Freudian dream theory and Solms' modifications of the unconscious derived from it, the fundamental task of meeting our emotional needs is guided by the principle of homeostasis. Our innate value system generates conscious feelings of pleasure and unpleasure, resulting in the behavior of approaching or withdrawing from the world of objects.

Processing Individually Distinctive Schematic-Faces Supports Proto-Arithmetical Counting in the Young Domestic Chicken.

A key signature of small-number processing is the difficulty in discriminating between three and four objects, as reported in infants and animals. Five-day-old chicks overcome this limit if individually distinctive features characterize each object. In this study, we have investigated whether processing individually different face-like objects can also support discrimination between three and four objects.
