Background: The optimal strategy for modern chemotherapy should be based on a comprehensive approach for cancer patients with cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, cardio-oncology has received increasing attention owing to the cardiotoxic effects of anti-cancer therapies.
Objectives: We aimed to evaluate the clinical characteristics and outcomes of patients with heart failure (HF) who received chemotherapy compared with those of a matched cohort with HF who did not receive chemotherapy, using real-world HF data.
Purpose: The blood concentrations of some tyrosine kinase inhibitors are known to decrease with long-term administration. We evaluated the variability in the serum concentrations of sunitinib and its metabolites in patients receiving long-term sunitinib treatment.
Methods: This study prospectively recruited patients who received sunitinib for metastatic renal cell carcinoma at the Showa University Hospital between March 2020 and January 2022.

Aim: To clarify the health economic evidence for selecting the first-line treatment for patients with stage IV advanced NSCLC with a programmed cell death ligand 1 tumor proportion score of 50% or greater in Japan, we assessed the cost-effectiveness of pembrolizumab monotherapy compared with that of platinum-based chemotherapy.
Method: Using a Markov model, the study simulated three health states for patients, based on clinical data and utility values from KEYNOTE-024.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) progressively impairs motor neurons, leading to muscle weakness and loss of voluntary muscle control. This study compared the effects of SOD1 mutation on masticatory and limb muscles from disease onset to death in ALS model mice. Notably, limb muscles begin to atrophy soon after ALS-like phenotype appear, whereas masticatory muscles maintain their volume and function in later stages.
