Background: As the landscape of ADRD diagnoses evolves to include biomarker testing, there is a pressing need to understand the unique experiences, challenges, and support needs of families undergoing evaluations of cognitive decline, particularly in a manner that prioritizes cultural considerations from voices historically underrepresented in ADRD research. The current study aims to understand the AD biomarker disclosure journey of persons from underrepresented groups with the goal of informing culturally responsive approaches to the care of patients and their families navigating the complexities of ADRD diagnoses.

Method: Virtual focus groups are being conducted over a secure video conferencing platform, with a trained facilitator guiding the discussion.

Background: Amyloid imaging biomarkers serve an increasingly important role in diagnosing Alzheimer's disease and determining eligibility for treatment with new disease-modifying therapies. Yet, psychological and behavioral reactions to receiving a biomarker informed diagnosis remain relatively unstudied, especially in diverse and underserved populations where the burden of disease is high and resources for support are often insufficient. We developed the Patient And family member Reactions to biomarker-informed ADRD DiagnosEs (PARADE) Study to address two key gaps in our understanding: 1) the range and trajectory of psychological and behavioral responses to a biomarker informed diagnosis and 2) the support needs of these individuals and their families.

Type 2 Diabetes Health Care Outcomes for Patients with Alcohol Use Disorder Starting Addiction Treatment.

Background: Alcohol use disorder (AUD) is common and may complicate type 2 diabetes (T2DM) management. Little research has examined diabetes outcomes for people with T2DM and AUD, including during the window when patients start specialty addiction treatment.

Objective: To examine diabetes-related health monitoring, clinical outcomes, and acute health care use among patients with T2DM and AUD newly accessing specialty addiction treatment.

Neurohospitalist Core Competencies.

The Neurohospitalist Core Competencies comprise a set of competency-based learning objectives that encapsulate the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of neurohospitalitists who specialize in the care of hospitalized patients with neurologic conditions. These competencies serve to characterize the rapidly expanding field of neurohospitalist medicine. The 27 chapters are divided into 3 sections entitled: neurological conditions, clinical interventions and interpretation of ancillary studies, and neurohospitalist role in the healthcare system.

Addressing social and health needs in health care: Characterizing case managers' work to address patient-defined goals.

Objective: To test quantitative process measures characterizing the work of social needs case managers as they assisted patients with diverse health-related needs-spanning both medical and social domains.

Study Setting And Design: The study analyzed secondary data on 7076 patients working with 147 case managers from the CommunityConnect social needs case management program in Contra Costa County, California from 2018 to 2021. The service-designed to be holistic with a focus on social determinants as root causes of health issues-helped patients navigate social services, health care, and mental health care.
