Background: Although iatrogenic nerve injury is sometimes diagnosed after gynecological surgery, its incidence is underestimated because most cases are self-limiting and underreported. Herein, we report on six cases of femoral nerve injury after gynecological surgery with both sensory and motor neuropathy.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 785 patients with gynecological cancer requiring surgery, including lymph node dissection, between 2012 and 2016 at our center.

The mechanisms behind reported decreases in plasma insulin and glucagon during hemodialysis (HD) are not clear. Here, we investigated these mechanisms during HD treatment and the characteristics of insulin and glucagon removal when using two super high-flux membranes. In an experimental study, clearance, adsorption rates, and reduction rates of insulin and glucagon were investigated when using cellulose triacetate (CTA) and polysulfone (PS) membranes in a closed circuit using bovine blood.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how olaparib maintenance therapy affects the response to platinum-based chemotherapy in patients with platinum-sensitive recurrent ovarian cancer (PSROC) after progressing from olaparib treatment.
  • Researchers analyzed data from 42 patients treated with olaparib between 2018 and 2021 to evaluate the outcomes of subsequent platinum-based chemotherapy after olaparib.
  • Findings revealed that patients with shorter platinum-free intervals (6-12 months) had a significantly poorer response to subsequent platinum-based chemotherapy, suggesting the need to reassess treatment strategies for these patients.

Over the last decade, many public institutions have emphasized the importance of antimicrobial stewardship (AS) in reducing the spread of antimicrobial resistance. In our facility, we have tackled AS that has adapted to clinical practices since 2015. In many facilities, especially university hospitals, multidrug-resistant bacteria, such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and extended-spectrum β-lactamase-producing bacteria, may cause infections.
