Review of approaches to the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, remote sensing and geographic information systems in humanitarian demining: Ukrainian case.

The history of the use of mines dates back almost two centuries. The geography of their use and the associated social harm have made them, without exaggeration, a global problem. At the same time, searches were underway for safe methods of their neutralization using various technical means.

Broadband transfer of binary images via optically long wire media.

In the paper the binary mechanism of the long-distance image transfer in a wire-medium (WM) endoscope is suggested and studied. We have shown that a discrete image formed by a set of point sources TM-polarized with respect to the WM can be transferred from the input to the output of the endoscope in a very broad frequency band. The underlying physics is the formation of local channels by a group of four adjacent wires.

Naked eye direction of arrival estimation with a Fresnel lens.

Direction of arrival (DoA) estimation is of primary importance in a broad range of wireless applications, where electromagnetic waves play a role. While a vast majority of existing techniques is based on phase lag comparison in antenna arrays, intensity-based approaches are valuable in a range of low budget applications. Here we demonstrate a direct visible to a naked eye DoA device, based on a Fresnel zone plate lens, aperture, and a light-emitting diode indicator.
