Background: The WHO considers anemia in pregnancy a severe public health issue when prevalence surpasses 40%. In response, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to examine anemia among pregnant women in Egypt, focusing on its prevalence, determinants, and associated complications.

It is well understood that cancer therapies including chemotherapy, tyrosine kinase inhibitors, immune checkpoint inhibitors, and radiation can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease in patients with cancer. This can manifest as a multitude of pathologies including left ventricular dysfunction, myocarditis, cardiomyopathy, accelerated atherosclerosis, and coronary vasospasm. Multimodal cardiac imaging plays a critical role in diagnosing such pathologies by relying on noninvasive tools including echocardiograms, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, positron emission tomography, single-photon emission computed tomography, and coronary computed tomography angiography.

The currently approved drugs for Alzheimer's disease (AD) are only for symptomatic treatment in the early stages of the disease but they could not halt the neurodegeneration, additionally, the safety profile of the recently developed immunotherapy is a big issue. This review aims to explain the importance of the drugs repurposing technique and strategy to develop therapy for AD. We illustrated the biological alterations in the pathophysiology of AD including the amyloid pathology, the Tau pathology, oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, neuroinflammation, glutamate-mediated excitotoxicity, insulin signaling impairment, wingless-related integration site/β-catenin signaling, and autophagy.

The global outbreak of Mpox has resurged, leading to a significant increase in cases across numerous countries. Mpox infections are associated with potential ophthalmologic complications, such as periorbital skin lesions, blepharoconjunctivitis, keratitis, and vision impairment. Here, we present a retrospective case report of an atypical Mpox in an HIV-positive patient with a persistent 5 × 5 cm ulcerated, round, plaque-like eyelid lesion refractory to multiple treatment regimens.

Anomalous left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery (ALCAPA) is a rare congenital deformity, and its association with truncus arteriosus (TA) has been infrequently described in medical literature. We report a case of a 3-year-old child presenting with failure to thrive and recurrent respiratory infections, who was diagnosed with truncus arteriosus type 1 and an anomalous left coronary artery originating from the pulmonary artery. The embryological basis of both TA and ALCAPA involves disruptions in the normal development of the aorticopulmonary septum and coronary arteries.
