Purpose Of The Study: The aim of this work was to report our experience with arthroscopy for the treatment of acetabular labral lesions and identify prognostic factors determining mid- and long-term outcome.

Material And Methods: Between August 1991 and December 1997, 12 patients (ten women, two men, mean age 39 years, age range 25-61 years) underwent arthroscopic treatment of an acetabular labrum lesion. All were reviewed at a mean 4 years follow-up (18 months-8 years).

Several reports have assessed that the prognosis of metastatic renal cell carcinoma was better if patient's general condition was good, if primary tumor had been resected, if the time between nephrectomy and metastasis was long, if metastases are only pulmonary and bone marrow was not involved. The bone metastases of renal cell cancer have a bad reputation because of their haemorragic caracteristics and their resistance to radiotherapy.In the Orthopaedic and Traumatologic Department of the University hospital in Strasbourg, the authors had operated on 65 metastatic renal cell cancers.

A series of 228 bone metastases of breast cancer in the limbs was operated continuously in the same division from 1965 to 1989. The consistent analysis of epidemiology, techniques and results allowed regularly improving the accuracy of surgical indications, which are now properly codified and preferably include arthroplasties and closed-focus osteosynthesis.
