Edoxaban, an activated blood coagulation factor Xa (FXa) inhibitor, ameliorates kidney disease by suppressing inflammation and tissue fibrosis in animal models. Interestingly, rivaroxaban, another FXa inhibitor, suppresses oxidative stress induced by FXa.

Background: Blockchain is emerging as an innovative technology for secure data management in many areas, including medical practice. A distributed blockchain network is tolerant against network fault, and the registered data are resistant to tampering and revision. The technology has a high affinity with digital medicine like mobile health (mHealth) and provides reliability to the medical data without labor-intensive third-party contributions.

Surgery for acute exacerbation of chronic mesenteric ischemia: a case report.

Background: Chronic mesenteric ischemia (CMI) is a rare disease; however, symptomatic CMI has a risk of acute exacerbation without timely revascularization.

Case Presentation: A 54-year-old man who had had postprandial pain for 6 months was admitted to our hospital because of vomiting and diarrhea. Although the celiac and superior mesenteric arteries were occluded at the proximal portion, contrast enhancement of the bowel wall was good in contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT).

Mucinous cystic tumors of the pancreas.

Purpose: This study was conducted to clarify the clinicopathologic characteristics relevant to the specific diagnosis of mucinous cystic tumors of the pancreas.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the clinical features and histopathologic findings of five patients who underwent curative resection for mucinous cystic tumors of the pancreas at our hospital between 1975 and 2000.

Results: All five patients were women, ranging in age from 36 to 69 years, and the tumors were located in the pancreatic body and tail.
