[Tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA) in aqueous humor of patients with cataract].

Purpose: The purpose of the examination was evaluation of tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA) concentration and plasminogen activator inhibitor (PAI) activity in aqueous humor of the eye and plasma of blood in patients operated on cataract.

Material And Methods: In aqueous humor and citrate plasma of 24 patients undergoing cataract surgery the concentration of t-PA (Imulyse Biopool) and the activity of PAI-1 (Spectrolyse Biopool) were determined.

Results: In aqueous humor of 90% patients the concentration of t-PA-Ag in mean value 1.

[Artificial intraocular lenses in patients with cataracts and glaucoma].

The authors evaluated 52 glaucomatous eyes in which, after the extracapsular cataract extraction, artificial posterior lens has been implanted. In 32 patients glaucoma has been treated for 2-6 years. In 7 patients of this group, it was not possible to control the intraocular pressure before surgery and in these cases simultaneous trabeculectomy, extracapsular cataract extraction and the implantation of artificial posterior lens were performed.

[Personal observations on using artificial anterior chamber lenses].

The analysis concerned 100 eyes (91 persons) operated for senile (89 eyes), traumatic (7 eyes) and pathological (4 cases) cataracts, with implantation of an artificial anterior chamber lens. The age of the patients oscillated between 32 and 86 years. The period of observation amounted from several months to 3 years.
