Background: The standard for robotic para-aortic lymphadenectomy has not been fully established. Para-aortic lymphadenectomy performed by sharing the same ports with pelvic procedures, a procedure known as dual-docking surgery, can be performed using the latest robotic system. We prospectively examined the ability of standardized dual-docking robotic surgery in endometrial cancer patients.

Article Synopsis
  • Breast cancer screening is essential but may miss some cases, so women should be attentive to changes in their breasts for early detection.
  • This study developed 3D-printed models to help simulate breast tumors and surveyed surgeons to evaluate how realistic these models felt.
  • Results showed a model that scored 7.1 out of 10 on simulating a real tumor, indicating the models could enhance training for medical professionals and education for patients.

Mainland Japanese have been recognized as having dual ancestry, originating from indigenous Jomon people and immigrants from continental East Eurasia. Although migration from the continent to the Japanese Archipelago continued from the Yayoi to the Kofun period, our understanding of these immigrants, particularly their origins, remains insufficient due to the lack of high-quality genome samples from the Yayoi period, complicating predictions about the admixture process. To address this, we sequenced the whole nuclear genome of a Yayoi individual from the Doigahama site in Yamaguchi prefecture, Japan.

Article Synopsis
  • * Conducted in two steps, the research verifies optimum sample storage conditions and compares HPV test results from self-collected urine and vaginal samples with traditional clinician-collected cervical samples among 121 participants.
  • * Results show that while urine samples had lower HPV detection rates, the testing methods exhibited varying degrees of concordance, with self-collected vaginal samples showing better agreement with cervical testing compared to urine.

A new lipopeptide, N-desmethylmajusculamide B (1), was isolated from the Okinawan cyanobacterium Okeania hirsuta along with 2 known compounds majusculamide A (2) and majusculamide B (3). The planar structure of (1) was elucidated by a detailed analysis of mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance spectra. The absolute configurations of the amino acid residues were determined using Marfey's analysis.
