Background: Pneumomediastinum and subcutaneous emphysema are mostly detected in non-malignant conditions such as certain infections, thoracic surgeries, and trauma. Although this condition is asymptomatic in most cases, sometimes it could be symptomatic and may even be lethal in some patients.

Case Presentation: This letter reports a 9-year-old girl with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) on chemotherapy who developed pneumothorax with the clinical feature of respiratory distress for that a chest tube was inserted immediately.

Background: The association between renal parenchyma changes on dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA) scans and demographic, clinical, and laboratory markers was assessed in pediatric patients with acute pyelonephritis.

Methods: A retrospective study of 67 Iranian babies and children aged 1-month to 12-year with APN was conducted between 2012 and 2018. The presence of renal parenchymal involvement (RPI) during APN was determined using technetium-99m DMSA during the first 2 weeks of hospitalization.

Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) is a cliniconeuroradiological disease entity, which is represented by characteristic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings of subcortical/cortical hyperintensity in T2-weighted sequences. It is more often seen in parietaloccipital lobes, and is accompanied by clinical neurological changes. PRES is a rare central nervous system (CNS) complication in patients with childhood hematologic-oncologic disese and shows very different neurological symptoms between patients, ranging from numbness of extremities to generalized seizure.

Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is one of the complications of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection. Although the patients who have developed HLH following EBV have normal immune system, there are a few patients with EBV-induced immune deficiency who develop HLH as well. Here, we describe the case of a 10-year-old girl with neurological complications caused by EBV-induced HLH.
