Increased prehospital mortality in patients with combined burns and trauma in Canada: Analysis of a provincial trauma registry database.

Introduction: The combination of burns and non-thermal trauma may have a synergistic effect on mortality. Our objective was to determine if burn patients with concomitant trauma are at increased risk of mortality in both the prehospital and in-hospital settings.

Methods: Data were collected from a population-based provincial trauma registry (2001-2019).

Growth Trajectories of Joint Attention and Play as Predictors for Language in Young Children at Elevated Likelihood for Autism.

This longitudinal study investigated the predictive value of initial level and growth rate of joint attention and play from 10 to 24 months for language abilities of 24-month-old toddlers at elevated likelihood (EL) for autism. (Semi-)structured assessments were used to measure all variables at different timepoints prospectively in younger siblings of children with autism (siblings, n = 48) and children born before 30 gestational weeks (preterms, n = 49). A positive association was found between initial level of play at 10 months and expressive language at 24 months in siblings, but not in preterms.

The Verbascum genus has gained significant attention in the pharmaceutical field, particularly in recent years, due to its valuable medicinal properties, which are well-recognized in complementary and alternative medicine. Certain species within this genus contain essential compounds and exhibit a wide range of therapeutic activities. In this study, the ethanolic extract of Verbascum gimgimense (VG) was analyzed for its cytotoxic, apoptotic, antioxidant, and enzyme inhibitory properties, as well as its phenolic and lipophilic compounds.

Novel Dibenzoazepine-Substituted Triazole Hybrids as Cholinesterase and Carbonic Anhydrase Inhibitors and Anticancer Agents: Synthesis, Characterization, Biological Evaluation, and Studies.

The new dibenzoazepine-substituted triazole hybrids (-) were designed by molecular hybridization approach and synthesized utilizing the Cu(I)-catalyzed click reaction. The hybrid structures (-) were obtained in high yields (74-98%) with a simple two-step synthesis strategy and fully characterized. These compounds were assessed for their influence on various metabolic enzymes including human carbonic anhydrase isoenzymes (hCA I and hCA II), acetylcholinesterase (AChE), and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE).
