Proteasome-dependent protein degradation and the digestion of peptides by aminopeptidases are essential for myogenesis. Methionine aminopeptidases (MetAPs) are uniquely involved in, both, the proteasomal degradation of proteins and in the regulation of translation (via involvement in post-translational modification). Suppressing MetAP1 and MetAP2 expression inhibits the myogenic differentiation of C2C12 myoblasts.

The bioartificial pancreas, composed of a semi-permeable hydrogel encapsulating insulin-secreting cells, has attracted attention as a treatment for type 1 diabetes. In this study, we developed phospholipid polymer-modified alginate hydrogel beads that encapsulated spheroids of the pancreatic beta cell line MIN6. The hydrogel beads were composed of methacrylated alginic acid, which enabled both ionic and covalent cross-linking, resulting in a hydrogel that was more stable than conventional alginate hydrogels.

Background: Despite the rising prevalence of common mental symptoms, information is scarce on how health workers make sense of symptoms of mental disorders and perceive a link with inadequate water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) as work stressors to understand causation and produce useful knowledge for policy and professionals. Therefore, this study aimed to explore how health workers perceive the link between inadequate WASH and common mental symptoms (CMSs) at hospitals in central and southern Ethiopian regions.

Methods: We used an interpretive and descriptive phenomenological design guided by theoretical frameworks.

We report a case of coexisting cold agglutinin and cryoglobulin in a patient with severe anemia following COVID-19 infection, in whom direct antiglobulin testing revealed C3d positivity and immunoglobulin G negativity. There was no evident hemolytic anemia, thrombosis, or clinically significant IgM monoclonal gammopathy. The anemia improved with folic acid supplementation alone accompanied by a decrease of the cold agglutination titer, and the direct antiglobulin test became negative.

Mixed-phenotype acute leukemia (MPAL) with fusion is a rare leukemia subtype exhibiting both myeloid and lymphoid traits. Standard treatment involves chemotherapy with a tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI). However, establishing the optimal treatment strategy for elderly patients with MPAL with fusion is challenging due to their intolerance to intensive chemotherapy.
