A term, healthy infant presented with respiratory distress and severe pulmonary hypertension (PH). With an unclear aetiology and the intent to decrease right ventricular afterload, pulmonary vasodilators were initiated. Follow-up imaging revealed a supravalvular mitral ring as the cause of the PH which resolved after surgical resection of the membrane.

Objective: The use of umbilical artery catheters (UACs) for parenteral nutrition (PN) administration is controversial, and limited data exist on the safety of administration through this route. The objective of this research is to evaluate neonates who received PN through a UAC and assess catheter-related complications and PN composition.

Methods: This retrospective study evaluated all neonates who received PN through their UAC while admitted in the neonatal intensive care unit between January 2019 and December 2022.

Multidisciplinary bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) programs provide improved and consistent medical management, care of the developing infant, family support, and smoother transitions in care resulting in improved survival, pulmonary, and extra-pulmonary outcomes. This review summarizes the benefits of interdisciplinary BPD management, as well as strategies for initial programmatic development, program growth, and maintenance at centers across the United States factoring in institutional, provider, and parent reported goals that were derived from a consensus conference on BPD management.

Objective: To develop a consensus guideline to meet nutritional challenges faced by infants with congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH).

Study Design: The CDH Focus Group utilized a modified Delphi method to develop these clinical consensus guidelines (CCG). Topic leaders drafted recommendations after literature review and group discussion.

Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a common comorbidity in infants with bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). Sildenafil is a widely recognized therapy for PH, but its efficacy in infants with BPD is questionable. We propose to assess the efficacy of sildenafil in BPD-associated PH as evaluated based on transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) changes and clinical measures.
