Article Synopsis
  • Lake Michigan's nearshore regions, influenced significantly by nearby rivers, show total phosphorus (TP) concentrations exceeding the GLWQA's target of 7 μg L, raising concerns about nutrient-related issues.
  • A monitoring program utilizing phosphorus-based models linked to hydrodynamic models was implemented to assess these nearshore conditions, revealing variability in TP concentrations due to the area's dynamic nature.
  • The study found that while model predictions varied, they successfully illustrated temporal and spatial trends, indicating that hydrodynamics and river loads critically influence TP levels, thereby making the TP model a valuable tool for future assessments.

Venetoclax with hypomethylating agents (HMA) is the standard of care for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in patients ineligible for intensive chemotherapy and is associated with tumor lysis syndrome (TLS). TLS prophylaxis and the use of Cairo Bishop versus Howard diagnostic criteria are not standardized. Here we report TLS prophylaxis and incidence in a retrospective cohort of 100 consecutive AML patients treated with venetoclax and HMA.

Background: People with concurrent mental health and substance use problems are among the most socially excluded groups in our society, yet little attention has been paid to what socially excluded people see as central to promoting their social inclusion. The aim of this qualitative scoping review is to provide an overview of barriers and facilitators for social inclusion among people with concurrent mental health and substance use problems, based on first-person perspectives, to help guide future research, policies, and practice.

Methods: We explored first-person perspectives on social inclusion among people with concurrent mental health and substance use problems, employing Arksey and O'Malleys framework.

Purpose: Addressing social inclusion often involves objective measures and means related to work, education, housing and economy. However, important subjective factors, such as the relationship between identity on social inclusion among young adults with mental illness and complex needs, are understudied. The study objective is to explore how young adults with mental illness and complex needs experience their identity in relation to social inclusion.
