Late presentation of Bochdalek hernia in children - experience at a single centre.

Background: The aim of this study was to present our experience with late presentation Bochdalek hernia (BH), focussing on clinical presentation diagnostic and therapeutic approaches, and their outcomes.

Methods: Patients with late presenting BH 1 month of age between 1983 and 2022 were studied. We retrospectively collected and analysed the following data: age, sex, side of herniation, presenting symptoms and signs, associated anomalies, radiographic findings, intraoperative findings, postoperative course, complications, and mortality.

The Adrenal Gland: An Organ Neglected in Pediatric Trauma Cases.

Purpose: Adrenal gland injury (AGI) caused by trauma may cause bleeding and life-threatening problems in children.The objective of this study was to analyze the prevalence of AGI in final diagnoses of trauma.

Materials And Methods: The records of 458 patients with abdominal trauma (out of a total 8,200 pediatric patientswith trauma of any sort), who were referred to our clinic between January 2009 and July 2014, were reviewed retrospectively.

Predicting pseudocyst formation following pancreatic trauma in pediatric patients.

Background: There are insufficient data on pre-screening for pancreatic pseudocysts (PC) following pancreatic trauma. This study investigated the use of radiological and laboratory testing for predicting the development of pancreatic pseudocysts after trauma.

Materials And Methods: The clinical records of all pediatric patients presenting with pancreatic trauma between January 2003 and December 2014 were reviewed retrospectively.

Management of high-grade renal injury in children.

Introduction: The management of severe renal trauma is disputable. Herein, we present diagnosis and treatment of patients with high-grade renal injury (grades IV and V).

Materials And Methods: The records of 31 patients with severe renal trauma who were treated between 2009 and 2014 were analyzed retrospectively.

Gastrointestinal tract duplications in children.

Aim: Gastrointestinal tract duplications (GTD) are rare congenital abnormalities that can occur anywhere along the gastrointestinal tract. These anomalies may present as a single, multiple, or a vague pathologies. Diagnosing and treating these diseases may be difficult in some patients.
