More than twelve million US adults ages forty and older are affected by vision impairment, and projections suggest that this number will double by 2050. Although most vision impairment can be eliminated with corrective lenses, many adults lack access to routine eye care. In this study, we analyzed detailed state-by-state Medicaid policies for 2022 and documented variability in coverage for adult vision services.

Article Synopsis
  • - Melanoma recurrence rates were found to be 8% for stage I, 24% for stage II, and 27% for stage III, with different types of recurrences (local, regional, distant) predominating at each stage.
  • - Various detection methods were used: patient complaints identified the highest percentage of recurrences in stage I (55%), while cross-sectional imaging (CSI) was most effective in stage III (59%).
  • - The study suggests that a history and physical examination (H&P) for all melanoma patients and CSI for those with higher stages are effective surveillance strategies.

Objectives: To examine the effects of a comprehensive, multiyear (2015-2020) statewide contraceptive access intervention in Delaware on the contraceptive initiation of postpartum Medicaid patients. The program aimed to increase access to all contraceptives, including long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARC). The program included interventions specifically targeting postpartum patients (Medicaid payment reform and hospital-based immediate postpartum (IPP) LARC training) and interventions in outpatient settings (provider training and operational supports).

The Hogan Personality Inventory (HPI) and Hogan Developmental Survey (HDS) are among the most widely used and extensively well-validated personality inventories for organizational applications; however, they are rarely used in basic research. We describe the (HPCS) inventory, an inventory designed to measure the 74 content subscales of the HPI and HDS via a single-item each. We provide evidence of the reliability and validity of the HPCS, including item-level retest reliability estimates, both self-other agreement and other-other (or observer) agreement, convergent correlations with the corresponding scales from the full HPI/HDS instruments, and analyze how similarly the HPCS and full HPI/HDS instruments relate to other variables.

Importance: School-based health centers (SBHCs) are primary care clinics colocated at schools. SBHCs have the potential to improve health care access and reduce disparities, but there is limited rigorous evidence on their effectiveness at the national level.

Objective: To determine whether county-level adoption of SBHCs was associated with access, utilization, and health among children from low-income families and to measure reductions in income-based disparities.
