The rapid identification of protein-protein interactions has been significantly enabled by mass spectrometry (MS) proteomics-based methods, including affinity purification-MS, crosslinking-MS, and proximity-labeling proteomics. While these methods can reveal networks of interacting proteins, they cannot reveal how specific protein-protein interactions alter protein function or cell signaling. For instance, when two proteins interact, there can be emergent signaling processes driven purely by the individual activities of those proteins being co-localized.

Aqueous solubilization of porphyrins, often accomplished with appended polar aryl groups, can also be achieved with symmetrically branched alkyl (i.e., swallowtail) groups terminated with polar moieties.

Beeswax is one of the most important products for the well-being of bee colonies. The wax glands of young worker bees produce beeswax, which serves as a building material for honeycomb construction. Beekeepers using hives with mobile frames mainly utilize local beeswax to make foundations.

Ded1 and Dbp1 are paralogous conserved DEAD-box ATPases involved in translation initiation in yeast. In long-term starvation states, Dbp1 expression increases and Ded1 decreases, whereas in cycling mitotic cells, Dbp1 is absent. Inserting DBP1 in place of DED1 cannot replace Ded1 function in supporting mitotic translation, partly due to inefficient translation of the DBP1 coding region.

Numerous changes in the oral cavity have been associated with COVID-19 infection, including the appearance of aphthous-like lesions. However, the precise relationship between COVID-19 and aphthous-like lesions remains unclear and poorly explained. We present the case of a 34-year-old man with no prior medical conditions who developed aphthous-like lesions three days after the onset of the COVID-19 infection.
