The field of platinum chemistry is ubiquitous in the research of anticancer drugs and new OLED materials. Within the vast library of existing compounds, the majority of work focuses on complexes in the +2 and +4 oxidation states, with comparatively few examples of PtIII complexes reported without bridging ligands. PtIII complexes with metal-metal bonding can be made by mild oxidation of PtII complexes having bis(phenylpyridine) ligands.

Background: Most of the evidence on risk factors for COVID-19 complications comes from North America or Europe with very little research from Latin-America. We aimed to evaluate the association between sociodemographic, clinical factors and the risk of COVID-19 complications among adults in Chile, the fifth Latin-American country with more COVID-19 reported cases since de beginning of the Pandemic.

Methods: A retrospective population-based cohort study using data from electronic health records from a large Primary Care Network, linked to national hospital, immunization, Covid-19 PCR surveillance, mortality and birth records.

Infective endocarditis (IE) most commonly results from infections by Gram-positive bacteria, and, in this condition, the redox homeostasis is lost due to the overproduction of HO, leading to the overstimulation of the immune system and the upregulation of the production of proinflammatory cytokines. The aim of this study was to evaluate the levels of oxidative biomarkers and the enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidant systems in subjects with IE. The study included three cases with IE that had undergone aortic valve replacement (AVR) surgery that was complicated by IE, comparing them with subjects with AVR without IE.

Leucine-rich repeat kinase 2 (LRRK2) inhibition is a promising disease-modifying therapy for LRRK2-associated Parkinson's disease (L2PD) and idiopathic PD (iPD). However, pharmaco-dynamic readouts and progression biomarkers for clinical trials aiming for disease modification are insufficient since no endogenous marker reflecting enhanced kinase activity of the most common LRRK2 G2019S mutation has been reported yet in L2PD patients. Employing phospho-/proteomic analyses we assessed the impact that LRRK2 activating mutations had in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from a LRRK2 clinical cohort from Spain (n=174).
