Article Synopsis
  • - The Biodex System is a high-tech tool used to evaluate muscle performance and identify issues within the musculoskeletal system, specifically focusing on wrist pathology due to the lack of standardized testing protocols.
  • - Researchers tested 20 patients with tennis elbow and 26 healthy individuals using three different protocols (isokinetic, isometric, and isotonic) to determine which method provided the best biomechanical data and patient comfort.
  • - Results showed the isotonic protocol was the most effective, providing optimal data with higher tolerance and lower pain levels for participants, making it the preferred choice for assessing wrist flexor and extensor muscles.

Cornelian cherry fruits contain a wide range of phenolic acids, flavonoids, and other secondary metabolites. Selected flavonoids may inhibit the perceiving of bitterness, however, the full mechanism with all TAS2R bitter taste receptors is not known. The aim of the study was to determine the inhibitory effect of Cornus mas phenolics against the bitterness receptors TAS2R13 and TAS2R3 through functional in vitro assays and coupling studies.

Background: The main objective of the present study was to present the biomechanical properties of the wrist in patients who underwent scaphotrapeziotrapezoid arthrodesis when compared to a healthy control hand.

Methods: The study group consisted of 29 consecutive patients who underwent a scaphotrapeziotrapezoid wrist arthrodesis at least 1 year before the research onset. Both hands of all patients were examined in 4 main categories.
