Objectives: The aim of our study was to examine how breast radiologists would be affected by high cancer prevalence and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) for decision support.
Materials And Method: This reader study was based on selection of screening mammograms, including the original radiologist assessment, acquired in 2010 to 2013 at the Karolinska University Hospital, with a ratio of 1:1 cancer versus healthy based on a 2-year follow-up. A commercial AI system generated an exam-level positive or negative read, and image markers.
Introduction: Necrotizing otitis externa is a rare but conditionally fatal infection of external auditory canal with extension to deep soft tissue and bones, resulting in necrosis and osteomyelitis of the temporal bone and scull base. This condition is also known as malignant otitis due to an aggressive behavior and poor treatment response. Early diagnosis of malignant otitis is a difficult challenge.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground/aim: Pseudoexfoliation syndrome (PEX) is an age-related systemic degenerative disorder characterized by the production and progressive accumulation of extracellular fibrillar eosinophilic material in the anterior segment of the eye. The aim of the study was to evaluate several clinical aspects of PEX, such as frequency of PEX and pseudoexfoliation glaucoma (PEXG), intraocular pressure (IOP), the type of lens opacity, and the possible relationship of PEX and systemic diseases.
Methods: All 674 cataract patients had a comprehensive eye examination, including slitlamp biomicroscopy before and after mydriasis, IOP measurement, and fundus examination.
Aim: AVM because of outstanding tendency toward bleeding, even though 20 times more rare then aneurysm on the blood vessels of the brain and her own specific anatomical structure even today represents big neurosurgical challenge.
Material And Methods: Series which is shown here consists of 39 patients which were hospitalized in the institute for neurosurgery of the Clinical Center of Serbia in the period between 1995 and 2004. This group was exposed to symptomatic therapy or it was estimated that surgery, embolization and radio surgery.
Background: A side effect of diagnostic needle biopsies is the possibility to disseminate tumour cells into the needle track, which may cause concern in certain malignant tumour types.
Methods: In order to prevent tumour cell dissemination we developed a technology that uses radiofrequency (RF) pulses to sterilise the needle track and denaturate tumour cells. To determine feasibility, we applied this technology to fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) and used breast cancer as a model tumour.
