Article Synopsis
  • Diffuse midline glioma (DMG), particularly DIPG, is a fatal brain tumor with no effective treatments, but recent studies identified PIK3CA and MTOR as promising targets for therapy.
  • The research demonstrates that combining the PI3K/Akt/mTOR inhibitor paxalisib with the antihyperglycemic drug metformin and the PKC inhibitor enzastaurin can enhance treatment efficacy and prolong survival in animal models.
  • Advanced techniques like spatial transcriptomics and ATAC-Seq were used to evaluate the effects on tumor biology, revealing significant changes that could support a clinically relevant combination therapy for DIPG.

A triple-band substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) with dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) for fourth-generation (4G) and fifth-generation (5G) applications is proposed and analyzed in this paper. Loading SIW with DRA allows for a wide bandwidth, low losses, and fabrication ease. The proposed antenna can transmit and receive data independently by covering LTE Band 3 at 1.

Article Synopsis
  • Researchers looked into how the dose of radiation given to the bladder neck during prostate cancer treatment affects urinary problems in patients.
  • They studied 209 patients, comparing those treated before and after they started paying closer attention to the bladder neck during treatment.
  • The results showed that urinary issues decreased in patients treated after they started that practice, but they didn't find a strong link between the radiation dose and the problems.

Uterine fibroids are exceedingly common benign tumours of the female reproductive system and cause severe symptoms, including acute pain, bleeding, and infertility. Fibroids are frequently associated with genetic alterations affecting mediator complex subunit 12 (), fumarate hydratase (), high mobility group AT-hook 2 () and collagen, type IV alpha 5 and alpha 6 (). Recently, we reported exon 2 mutations in 39 out of 65 uterine fibroids (60%) from 14 Australian patients.
