Dysplasia and Colorectal Cancer Surveillance in Ulcerative Colitis Patients in Latin America: Real-World Data.

Background: The prevalence of colorectal cancer (CRC) in patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) is higher than in the general population, in Latin America there is a progressive increase of UC, and information about CRC screening in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is scarce. The aim of this study was to analyze the findings of endoscopic surveillance of CRC in patients with IBD according to available technology.

Methods: Multicenter, cross-sectional, analytical study conducted in Latin American countries, in patients with UC, predominantly with more than 8 years of diagnosis and different degrees of disease activity.

Comprehensive Clinical and Genetic Characterization of a Spanish Cohort of 22 Patients With Bainbridge-Ropers Syndrome.

Bainbridge-Ropers Syndrome (BRPS) is a genetic condition resulting from truncating variants in the ASXL3 gene. The clinical features include neurodevelopmental and language impairments, behavioral issues, hypotonia, feeding difficulties, and distinctive facial features. In this retrospective study, we analyzed 22 Spanish individuals with BRPS, aiming to perform a detailed clinical and molecular description and establish a genotype-phenotype correlation.

Embedding a ribonuclease in the spore crust couples gene expression to spore development in Bacillus subtilis.

Faced with nutritional stress, some bacteria form endospores capable of enduring extreme conditions for long periods of time; yet the function of many proteins expressed during sporulation remains a mystery. We identify one such protein, KapD, as a 3'-exoribonuclease expressed under control of the mother cell-specific transcription factors SigE and SigK in Bacillus subtilis. KapD dynamically assembles over the spore surface through a direct interaction with the major crust protein CotY.

Automated high-throughput RP-HPLC-MS and SFC-MS analytical and purification platforms to support drug discovery.

In recent years, the need to accelerate drug discovery processes in the pharmaceutical industry has revived the interest of implementing automated workflows, allowing the simultaneous processing of multiple samples on global processes that are referred as High-Throughput Purification (HTP). In this work, SAPIO Laboratory Information Management System (SAPIO LIMS) has been customized at the HTP laboratories of Janssen R&D to accommodate the needs of global purification groups on several automated HTP workflows, integrating Analytical Studio™ data processing tool on multiple steps. Herein we describe the workflow details from crude analysis via RP-LC-MS or SFC-MS systems to sample redissolution and delivery to Compound Logistics (CL) in tubes ready for assay plate preparation.

Impact of Omega-3 on Endocannabinoid System Expression and Function, Enhancing Cognition and Behavior in Male Mice.

: Omega-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) support brain cell membrane integrity and help mitigate synaptic plasticity deficits. The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is integral to synaptic plasticity and regulates various brain functions. While PUFAs influence the ECS, the effects of omega-3 on the ECS, cognition, and behavior in a healthy brain remain unclear.
