Unlabelled: Right-to-left shunt may be a cause of paradoxical embolization (and cryptogenic cerebral ischemic events). Patent foramen ovale and pulmonary arterio-venous malformations are the most common cause of paradoxical embolization; however, some rare cardiovascular lesions may cause a right-to-left shunt with consequent paradoxical embolization. We describe a case of a young child with superior sinus venosus atrial septal defect who underwent surgical closure and developed a cryptogenic cerebral ischemic attack due to a rare cause of paradoxical embolization, during a long-term follow-up.

The combination of chemotherapy and immunotherapy for metastatic cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) offers promising improvements in survival and response rates beyond traditional treatments. TOPAZ-1 and KEYNOTE-966 have demonstrated the efficacy of combining immunotherapy (durvalumab and pembrolizumab) with chemotherapy, even in gallbladder cancer (GBC), with a complete response rate of 2.7% in the TOPAZ-1 trial.

Triosephosphate isomerase deficiency (TPI Df) is a rare multisystem disorder with severe neuromuscular symptoms which arises exclusively from mutations within the TPI1 gene. Studies of TPI Df have been limited due to the absence of mammalian disease models and difficulties obtaining patient samples. Recently, we developed a novel murine model of TPI Df which models the most common disease-causing mutation in humans, TPI1.

A plant's structure is the result of constant adaptation and evolution to the surrounding environment. From this perspective, our goal is to investigate the mass and radius distribution of a particular plant organ, namely the searcher shoot, by providing a Reinforcement Learning (RL) environment, that we call Searcher-Shoot, which considers the mechanics due to the mass of the shoot and leaves. We uphold the hypothesis that plants maximize their length, avoiding a maximal stress threshold.

Mars exploration will foresee the design of bioregenerative life support systems (BLSSs), in which the use/recycle of in situ resources might allow the production of food crops. However, cultivation on the poorly-fertile Mars regolith will be very challenging. To pursue this goal, we grew potato ( L.
