This study aimed to characterize the sociodemographic and clinical profiles of Portuguese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and to assess their self-care practices, treatment adherence, motivation, and satisfaction with social support. A cross-sectional observational study was conducted at an endocrinology unit in northern Portugal from January 2021 to December 2022. The sample included 303 adult patients with T2DM who provided informed consent.

Key factors for effective implementation of healthcare workers support interventions after patient safety incidents in health organisations: a scoping review.

Objectives: This study aims to map and frame the main factors present in support interventions successfully implemented in health organisations in order to provide timely and adequate response to healthcare workers (HCWs) after patient safety incidents (PSIs).

Design: Scoping review guided by the six-stage approach proposed by Arksey and O'Malley and by PRISMA-ScR.

Data Sources: CINAHL, Cochrane Library, Embase, Epistemonikos, PsycINFO, PubMed, SciELO Citation Index, Scopus, Web of Science Core Collection, reference lists of the eligible articles, websites and a consultation group.

How many anchors to use in arthroscopic Bankart repairs? A biomechanical study of postage-stamp glenoid fractures.

Background: Deciding how many anchors to use in a Bankart repair is challenging because of the desire to enhance stability while avoiding a postage-stamp fracture of the glenoid rim.

Methods: This controlled laboratory study investigated load to fracture of the anterior glenoid rim after drilling holes of varying number and diameter and inserting anchors of 2 different types and sizes, with and without perforation of the medial cortex of the glenoid, creating postage-stamp fractures using a metallic humeral head that was compressed against the anterior glenoid rim. A destructive model with a servohydraulic load frame was used to test 46 synthetic scapulae with compressive strength and elastic modulus similar to that of a human glenoid.

Approximately 10% of patients experience symptoms of Post COVID-19 Condition (PCC) after a SARS-CoV-2 infection. Akin acute COVID-19, PCC may impact a multitude of organs and systems, such as the cardiovascular, respiratory, musculoskeletal, and neurological systems. The frequency and associated risk factors of PCC are still unclear among both community and hospital settings in individuals with a history of COVID-19.

Effects of dredging activities and seasonal variation on coastal plankton assemblages: results from 10 years of environmental monitoring.

Coastal zones support the most productive marine ecosystems, yet they are increasingly threatened by anthropogenic stressors such as dredging. In this study, we investigated how seasonal variation and dredging activities conducted during the construction of a harbor and submarine base (Sepetiba Bay, RJ, Brazil) affected the phytoplankton and zooplankton assemblages. The observed temporal variability at five different sites over 10 years revealed that dredging exceeds the expected influence of dry and rainy seasons on plankton abundance and diversity.
