Background: Endometriosis, characterized by the presence of endometrial-like tissue outside the uterus, results in chronic pelvic pain. However, lesion characteristics alone cannot fully explain the complexity of endometriosis-related pain. Pain catastrophizing, a cognitive process that influences pain perception, has traditionally been studied through cross-sectional or two-wave designs, which struggle to capture its dynamic interplay with endometriosis pain.

Scavengers have adapted to avoid disease from the rotting carrion they feed on, probably through a specialized gut microbiome. This study aimed to characterize the gut microbiome of (n = 8) present in two rehabilitation centers in mainland Portugal and evaluate their potential as reservoirs of pathogens.

Despite the regular utilization of both techniques independently, little is known about the potential impact of their combination in neurosurgical practice. This scoping review, conducted following PRISMA guidelines, focused on TMS-EEG in epilepsy, neuro-oncology, and general neurosurgery.

Both non-destructive techniques, including X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF), Fiber Optics Reflectance Spectra (FORS), and Steady State Fluorescence Spectroscopy, and destructive methods such as High-Performance Liquid Chromatography coupled with Diode-Array Detection (HPLC-DAD) and Electrospray Ionization High-Resolution Mass Spectrometry (ESI-HRMS), were utilized for a comprehensive analysis. The examined red shades were identified as originating from either a single pigment or dye, or a combination of both.
