[Pancreatoduodenectomy in Octogenarian Patients and the Need for Standardized Evaluation].

Unlabelled: Pancreatoduodenectomy represents the only curative alternative in patients with periampullary tumors, currently with acceptable morbidity and mortality rates. However, there is little evidence in octogenarian patients.

Aim: To describe the experience of octogenarian patients undergoing pancreatoduodenectomy for tumors of the periampullary area at the Hospital Clínico de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.

Integrating mental health and psychosocial support into economic inclusion programming for displaced families in Ecuador.

Background: Poverty is a key social determinant of mental health among forcibly displaced persons. This study aimed to design and pilot test a strategy to integrate existing mental health and economic inclusion interventions for displaced families in Ecuador.

Methods: We conducted a series of qualitative interviews (n = 30), focus groups (n = 6), and workshops (n = 3) to develop a set of strategies for integrating cross-cutting and focused mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) strategies into an existing economic inclusion program for displaced families in Quito.

[Portal vein embolization prior to major hepatectomy: A multidisciplinary approach for advanced liver tumors in Chile].

Background: One of the main limitations to achieving a complete tumor resection in patients with technically resectable liver tumors is the presence of a small future liver remnant (FLR). Portal vein embolization (PVE) allows hypertrophy of the non-embolized lobe, reducing the risk of postoperative liver failure.

Aim: To describe the experience of portal embolization prior to hepatectomy and its effectiveness in converting advanced unresectable liver tumors into resectable tumors.

Lifetime prevalence of psychotic-like experiences and associated factors in Chile.

Introduction: Psychotic-like experiences (PLEs), which include hallucinations and delusional experiences, are usually present in healthy populations, and their persistence, quality, and severity are associated with the development of psychiatric diseases, including schizophrenia and other poor psychosocial outcomes. Urbanicity, depression, and other psychosocial stressors have been associated with PLEs. However, evidence of PLEs in Latin American (LATAM) countries is still scarce, and there are no studies about PLEs in Chile.

Robotic transversus abdominis release using HUGO RAS system: our initial experience.

Background: Transversus abdominis release (TAR) is an effective technique for treating large midline and off-midline hernias. Recent studies have demonstrated that robotic TAR (rTAR) is technically feasible and associated with improved outcomes compared to open surgery. There is no published experience to date describing abdominal wall reconstruction using the novel robotic platform HUGO RAS System (Medtronic®).
