In this study, the effects of goji berry (Lycium barbarum L.) grafting on tomato growth, photosynthesis, antioxidant metabolism and osmoregulatory substances under high-temperature stress were studied with black goji berry and red goji berry as grafting rootstocks and 'Sufen 14' tomato as scions. It was found that under room temperature conditions, the growth of goji berry grafted tomato plants was inhibited compared to self-rooted tomato plants, and goji berry rootstock grafting could alleviate the adverse effects of high-temperature stress on plant height, stem diameter, and root activity.

Objectives: Humidifier disinfectants (HDs) were sold in Korea from 1994 until their recall in 2011. We examined the incidence patterns of 8 respiratory diseases before and after the HD recall and estimated the attributable risk in the Korean population.

Methods: Using National Health Insurance data from 2002 to 2019, we performed age-cohort-period and difference-in-differences analyses (comparing periods before versus after the recall) to estimate the population-attributable fraction and the excess number of episodes.

Background: An ideal lung allocation system should reduce waiting list deaths, improve transplant survival, and ensure equitable organ allocation. This study aimed to develop a novel lung allocation score (LAS) system, the MaxBenefit LAS, to maximize transplant benefits.

Methods: This study retrospectively analyzed data from the Korean Network for Organ Sharing database, including 1,599 lung transplant candidates between September 2009 and December 2020.

Background: Fee exemption policies are key strategies for reducing the barriers to accessing maternal health services and improving maternal and child health outcomes. This study used pooled national data to determine the impact of Ghana's user fee exemption policy on maternal health service utilisation since it was implemented in 2008.

Methods: Using four rounds of cross-sectional data from national surveys on women with live births, we conducted an inverse probability of treatment weighting analysis to evaluate the causal effects of Ghana's user fee exemption policy intervention on the timing of first antenatal care (ANC) visit, completion of four or more ANC visits and facility-based delivery as indicators of maternal health service utilisation.

Background & Aims: Hepatopulmonary syndrome (HPS) results from portal hypertension, with or without cirrhosis, and is marked by pulmonary vascular dilations leading to severe hypoxemia. Although placental growth factor (PlGF) is important for vascular growth and endothelial function, its role in HPS is unclear. This study investigated the involvement of PlGF in experimental models of HPS and in patients.
